One of the things the RS standard specifies is the high signal voltages and semi-low load impedances; but since some people have not needed the extra noise immunity the high voltages can bring under certain conditions, they have gone without the line drivers and receivers. My understanding is that the signals need to be inverted between the UART and the connector. Yeah the MC would have worked if it routed, but the boards are already made. Tried to use old, but compatible, atmega88 chips for it. I have read a present thation from Microchip that says it is essential, but is that really true?

Tue Dec 31, 5: The old pin single-supply MC quad line receiver apparently meets that requirement. Boards have been in for a while. Let me restate the problem.
Going to order another one and see. Cheated and added some SOT23 inverters to the bottom. I don’t know about that. Started by fastline Vatasheet at 8: I’ll update once they arrive.
Post pics when you get the boards in. Google [Bot] and 0 guests. I looked for devices with the same footprint and proper tolerances, but I found nothing. The and line drivers are current production as 14C88 and 14C I’m guessing it’s shot since removing the chip returns everything to normal.

I want to connect this to a device similar to this So the idea is to have TTL level serial, but make the board RS level tolerant.
But the brilliance is that error won’t matter. That doesn’t really answer my question.
